Profile
Prof. G. P. S. Raghava received his M.Tech. from IIT Delhi and his Ph.D. from CSIR-IMTECH, Chandigarh. He served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Oxford, UK, as a Bioinformatics Specialist at UAMS, USA, and as a Visiting Professor at POSTECH, South Korea. He worked as a Scientist at CSIR-IMTECH, Chandigarh, for nearly three decades (1986–2016). Prof. Raghava is a champion of open source software and open access, all the resources develoed at his group are free for the scientific community. His group has developed and maintained more than 300 bioinformatics software, databases and web servers, the highest number developed by a single research group worldwide. These resources are extensively used by the global scientific community, receiving approximately 200,000 hits per day. He has published over 300 research papers in reputed journals, with an average impact factor of around 4.0. His publications have received more than 36,000 citations, with an h-index of 97 and an i10-index of 287. He is a recipient of several prestigious national honors, including the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize, the National Bioscience Award, and the J. C. Bose National Fellowship. He is a Fellow of major Indian science academies (FNA, FASc, FNASc). In 2014, he was recognized as a “Highly Cited Researcher” by Thomson Reuters, ranking among the top 1% of researchers worldwide in computer science.
