Coming from a small town in Uttar Pradesh and pursuing my B.Tech at a tier-3 college, joining IIIT-D felt like a dream come true. My time at IIITD has been truly unforgettable. I've experienced everything from online classes to traditional in-person learning. The first four semesters were conducted online, which made initial interactions a bit challenging, but I managed to overcome that obstacle. In those early days of college, I focused on figuring things out, pushing my limits, and making new friends. Starting from the fifth semester, classes transitioned back to offline mode, and I discovered just how much more enjoyable in-person college life could be, even as a day scholar. I was thrilled to find a quick route from Harkesh Nagar Okhla metro station to campus. My metro rides took about an hour each way, but I rarely arrived late for class. I often got to campus early, sometimes an hour before morning lectures, enjoying the serene atmosphere. During those quiet moments, I loved capturing the beauty of the campus on my phone. I noticed that attending classes regularly positively impacted my grades. It became clear that I needed to go the extra mile to excel, so I aimed to add a unique touch to my assignments. I took some fascinating courses in game design and ergonomics, among others. Time flew by, and before I knew it, I was in my eighth semester. This summary barely scratches the surface of my emotions and experiences. What I’ll cherish most are the friendships I formed, the lessons I learned, and the countless stories I gathered along the way.

First of all, I think this would be very small feedback owing to the amount of experiences IIITD gave me, but would like to close it shortly. Things started out, when we all were packed inside our homes because of corona pandemic, and we were onboarded into college completely online. Everything was good, the management staff, councils, coordinators of various clubs and societies or the whole fraternity in general, but things started getting worse when the academic session started. Since I was a very introvert child, I was not able to make much friends or able to connect with my peers in the online mode. Because of this, I faced many backlashes, ranging from getting bad grades(because others were discussing and cheating in groups) to having no interest in societies where internal nepotism goes(a perception, may not be true). Because of this, I faced many setbacks like no internship during the commencement of the 3rd year and getting a placement offer from an A grade company and that also in the very end of the whole academic timeline. But all these situations, made me realize that it's you and your own choices that makes your personality, and one must not compromise with it, no matter how badly others would treat you or want to destroy it.

When I came to IIIT Delhi, I didn’t even know about Machine Learning. But I took a course under Anubha Gupta, and she taught me very well. Her NPTEL lectures helped me a lot. In my first semester, I struggled a lot because my foundation was weak. I wasn’t able to perform even at an average level in courses like Grad, OOPD. I was struggling, but still learning. Somehow, I managed to cope up. One girl became my best friend - we usually studied together, continuously improving. With my friend’s support, I managed to handle everything and achieved a 7.35 CGPA. During the placement session, very few companies came. I even reached the last round of Amazon Applied Science, but the company didn’t select anyone. I kept applying off-campus and eventually got a job at Sigmatic.ai as an AI Engineer. IIIT Delhi is the best college, but survival here is tough. The placement team is not very good - they struggle to find new companies when their regular hiring partners slow down, and they also don’t take full responsibility for student placement.

In 1.5 years, I met incredible professors, learned industry-level skills, and connected with peers from all over India. A key moment was when I scored below average in my VLSI mid-semester exam—something I’d never faced before. Instead of giving up, I worked harder, improved my approach, and ended up scoring a 9 in the final. That taught me resilience and the value of persistence. This journey taught me to stay calm under pressure and keep moving forward no matter the challenge. Exposure to diverse cultures and perspectives expanded my thinking and boosted my confidence and communication skills.
