IIIT Delhi received yet another honour with the inauguration of the Centre for Design and New Media on 22nd August, 2018. This is a TCS Foundation initiative, supported by Tata Consultancy Services. The multi-million dollar grant will span over seven years, and will provide support for faculty, projects, equipment and labs in IIIT Delhi. This is a unique initiative taken by the institute and is a one-of-a-kind centre in India. The centre plans to focus on advancing the research and development activities in including but not limited to domains like Human-Computer Interaction(HCI), Interaction Design, Multimedia, Graphics, Games, Virtual and Augmented Reality, and New media. Headed by Dr. Pushpendra Singh, the centre will be working closely with academic and industrial partners to reach greater heights and fulfil the vision of its inception.

The inauguration took place in the presence of Prof. Sanjiva Prasad (IIT-Delhi), Prof. PVM Rao (IIT-Delhi), Prof. Ranjan Bose (IIT-Delhi), Mr. Vivek Balaraman (Chief Scientist, TCS), Ms. Niranjan Pedanekar (Principal Scientist, TCS), and Mr. Sandeep Athavale (Principal Scientist, TCS). Prof. Pankaj Jalote(IIIT-Delhi) and Mr. Ajoy Mukherjee (TCS) signed the MoU during the event and Mr. Ajoy Mukherjee, EVP and Head of HR, and Member of the Board, TCS Foundation and Mr. K Ananth Krishnan, EVP, and Chief Technology Officer of TCS interacted with the faculty and students at the institute to learn more about the academic culture here and accordingly, discussed future plans for the centre.

This initiative will surely bring more glory to both the institute and the TCS Foundation and be another feather in their caps!
